About Us

Sister Angel Foundation for Education is a nonprofit organization based in Monterey Park, California. We serve low-income single mothers, especially women of color, who are working hard to build better lives for themselves and their children through higher education.

We understand how overwhelming college can feel—especially for mothers trying to balance parenting, work, and school. That’s why our team is made up of mothers with master’s degrees in educational counseling, all of whom have personally experienced what it’s like to attend college while raising children. We bring both professional expertise and lived empathy to every mother we serve.

What We Do

We specialize in educational advising for single mothers navigating the community college system. We help them understand how to enroll, apply for financial aid, find scholarships, and access on-campus support like childcare, tutoring, and food assistance.

Our goal is to make sure mothers not only start college, but feel supported enough to stay and graduate—confident, prepared, and proud.

We also offer:

  • Personalized advising with step-by-step guidance
  • Workshops focused on college success, conscious parenting, and workforce readiness
  • Help finding and completing scholarships—on and off campus
  • Seasonal support through our Back-to-School Drive and Adopt-a-Family holiday program

Why We Focus on Community Colleges

We believe community colleges are powerful starting points for single mothers. They offer flexible schedules, affordable tuition, and local resources—but they can also be confusing to navigate alone.

Many mothers get lost in the system. We’re here to guide them through it.

We help them build connections with campus counselors and programs, understand key deadlines, and get back on track if they ever feel overwhelmed. We act as a bridge between their dreams and their degrees.

Our Belief

When a mother earns her college degree, her children benefit for a lifetime. Research shows that children of educated mothers do better in school, are more likely to go to college, and have greater long-term success.

By investing in mothers, we are creating a ripple effect of opportunity—for their children and for generations to come.

Our Name

Sister Angel Foundation for Education was named in honor of the belief that every mother deserves a sister-like guide and guardian on her journey. Someone to uplift her, walk beside her, and remind her that her dreams matter.

That’s who we strive to be.
